AIRPORT METRO CONNECTOR/96TH STREET TRANSIT STATION
The Airport Metro Connector (AMC) is a multi-modal transit station that will connect the Crenshaw/LAX Line (CLAX) to the future Automated People Mover (APM) currently under construction by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). Major AMC project components include a New Light Rail Transit Platform, Bike Hub, Bus Plaza, and Metro Hub. The project further includes a multi-use path consisting of sidewalk, street trees and shared bike-use path.
KDG is currently Metro’s onsite construction management team providing onsite coordination and supervision for all construction management operations. KDG’s team of resident engineers, inspectors, document controls staff, and technical specialists will monitor all construction activities. The team is currently supporting Metro’s bidding efforts, thirdparty stakeholder coordination, and utilities coordination.
Construction coordination and sequencing is a major challenge of the project. Immediately bounding the AMC project site are four major projects that are or will be under construction upon NTP of the AMC project. These projects include an active CLAX line, construction of the APM through the AMC site, and the reconstruction of Aviation Blvd and Arbor Vitae Street.
KDG utilizes constant, unrelenting communication and flexibility when managing a project with so many internal and external stakeholders, facility managers and private developers. We focus heavily on relationship building and partnering with the adjacent projects in order to work towards a successful project outcome.
