Laura DV Smets
Executive Vice President – Client Development
With over 20 years of experience in construction/project management and project controls, Laura DV Smets represents the Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Construction and Logistics Management Group as an Area Resident Manager for projects including the Tom Bradley International Terminal, Taxilane S, South Airfield Improvements and upgrades in Terminals 1, 2 and 3. In this role, she provides project coordination and logistics management for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring that individual projects do not interfere with the delivery of other projects, and minimizing impacts to on-going airport operations.
Before joining KDG’s Construction Management team at LAX, Ms. Smets provided project controls and project engineering support to multiple utility projects for agencies including Burbank Water and Power, Glendale Water and Power, Anaheim Water and Power and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Her projects included power station replacement, expansion and new construction of substations, transmission line improvements and the remodel of the Glendale Water and Power Utility Operations Center. Ms. Smets holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the California State University, Northridge, and is a graduate of the Leadership programs at Coro Southern California and Valley Leadership Institute.
