LASAN HYPERION

The Hyperion Water Reclamation and Sewage Treatment Facility is the oldest and largest wastewater treatment facility in Los Angeles,
and has been operating since 1894. The plant has been expanded and improved numerous times over the last 100+ years.

Occupying a 144-acre site in El Segundo, Hyperion processes some 400 million gallons of wastewater daily, which enter the plant from Los Angeles’ 6,000-mile sewer system, serving 3.7 million people. The plant employs leading edge technological innovations in order to recover wastewater bio-resources that are used for energy generation and agricultural applications. The facility consistently integrates improved air emission controls and odor management facilities.

KDG has been involved in multiple modernization, expansion and upgrade projects for the plant, providing claims management,
estimating and administrative support services. KDG’s team computerized the estimating activities related to HVAC, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, and assisted with negotiating change order and scope of work changes with the contractors.
