LADWP OWENS LAKE DUST MITIGATION
KDG has been providing construction management services since 2000 for Phases 1-5, 7, 7a and 9/10 of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s (LADWP) Owens Lake Dust Mitigation Program. The project, which encompasses over 40 square miles of dry lake bed, includes remediation, infrastructure development and construction of dust control methods which include shallow flooding, managed vegetation and gravel cover
Major project components consist of three new pumping stations to provide site water management, raised earthen roads, berms with rip-rap slopes, and the installation of many miles of piping, including welded stainless-steel mainline pipe, HDPE lateral pipe, and perforated drain pipe.
KDG is LADWP’s owner’s representative, providing on-site coordination and supervision of all construction management operations. KDG’s team of resident engineers, inspectors, project controls staff, technical specialists and safety professionals manage and monitor all construction activities. They coordinate the resolution of design and construction issues, and prepare contract and construction status reports.
KDG staff processes change orders, handles pay applications, tracks construction progress and monitors cost controls and critical path method schedules. Quality assurance and safety staff perform all technical inspections, provide on-site supervision of quality inspections, site safety monitoring and report
