LOS ANGELES, CA, November 21, 2015 – The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has selected KDG Construction Consulting to provide construction management services for the Phase 9/10 Project of the Owens Lake Dust Mitigation Program. Since 2000, KDG has provided construction management services for the Owens Lake Dust Mitigation Program. This contract award has a construction value of up to $240 million over a three year period, for services to be provided at Owens Lake in Keeler, California.
Under this contract, KDG will provide the professional construction management services and related support services needed to assure compliance with the terms of the agreement between LADWP and Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District to control dust at Owens Lake. The Phase 9/10 Project consists of the installation of dust control methods such as gravel, shallow flooding, and vegetation on 3.62 square miles of dry lake bed.
KDG President Lydia Kennard was honored at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 20 for USC East College Prep, a free, public charter high school in a lower income neighborhood. Ms. Kennard serves on the Board of Trustees of USC, and led and funded the purchase and renovation of the school building, located on Mission Road in Lincoln Heights. The building’s open layout, as managed by KDG, resembles more of a college student union than a high school classroom.
When the Ramona Gardens repiping project began to run behind schedule, using the traditional trenching and laying of PVC pipe, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) sought another solution. As the construction manager on the project, KDG Construction Consulting worked in collaboration with HACLA and the contractor to employ a trenchless piping system, which resulted in a time and cost savings and plenty of kudos from tenants.
